Recruiting Spotlight

Your story, on the record.

A feature written by a sports journalist and published across real news sites. When a coach searches your name, this is what they find.

What it is

A Recruiting Spotlight is a 500 to 700 word feature story about you: your position, your stats, your film, your academics and what drives you. We write it in a news voice, not a sales voice, then publish it across a network of news and media sites. Every placement is indexed by Google, so your name stops returning nothing and starts returning coverage.

Why it works

Every college coach does the same thing after watching your film: they search your name. If the only results are a MaxPreps page and an old team photo, you look like every other recruit on the list. If they find published stories about your season, your work ethic and your goals, you look like a prospect someone is already paying attention to.

Coverage is credibility you can link to. Put it in your emails to coaches, your bio, your highlight reel description and your recruiting profile.

What's included

  • A short intake questionnaire and optional 15 minute call
  • A feature story written by a sports writer, with your quotes
  • Your photo, highlight reel and recruiting profile links embedded
  • Publication on 300+ local US news sites, indexed by Google
  • A coverage report with every live link, ready to send to coaches
  • One round of revisions before anything goes live

How to use it

Drop the strongest link into your first email to a coach. Pin it in your social bio. Add it to your NCSA, SportsRecruits or Hudl profile. Send the coverage report to your high school or club coach so they can share it when they advocate for you.

Common questions

Is this the same as a sports press release?

It's built on the same idea, getting a story about you published on news sites, but it doesn't read like one. A typical sports press release is a dry announcement. A Recruiting Spotlight is written as a feature story by a sports writer, with your voice and your goals, so it actually holds a coach's attention.

Will it show up when coaches search my name?

Your full name goes in the headline and the story is published on sites Google indexes, so it's built to show up for searches of your name. Exact rankings depend on how common your name is and what else is published about you.

Can I use it on my recruiting profile?

Yes. Add the links to your NCSA, SportsRecruits, Hudl or Instagram bio, and include them in emails to coaches.
